New Way
The Top Hand corralled the boys one day
"Heres the bad news, Im sorry to say,The old way is gone, the past is done
Computer age ranching has just begun. When you all hear this youll want to cry
Our way of life just went good bye.Instead of branding as in days of old
We glue on bar codes and hope they hold.Instead of counting steers on the roll
We watch the scanner and master control. To round up the herd, a high frequency bell
When the thing goes off, you run like hell. But the worst is to come so keep your cool
This means that you all go back to school!"© 2000 Sig Mischnick
