The National Cowboy and
Western Heritage Museum feels that Cowboy Poetry represents a genre that
makes a significant statement on the nature of the American West. With
this thought in mind, we are attempting to contact Cowboy Poets from
across the West to help us preserve this important aspect of our heritage
for future generations.
We invite all Cowboy
Poets to send us copies of their published or unpublished works, CDs,
tapes, or other materials related to their Cowboy Poetry.
Additionally, we would appreciate a short biographical sketch of your
involvement with Cowboy Poetry, to include when you started writing, what
inspired you to begin, when and where you have performed, etc. This
biographical information would be useful to the project even if you have
no published examples of your work.
This project represents
the ongoing efforts of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum to
preserve the many aspects of the culture of the American West so that
those in the future will not lose elements of their heritage. All
materials will be deposited in the Dickinson Research Center at the
National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum for the use of researchers and
others who might have reason to use it in the years to come.
Please send your materials
