Founder Gary Brown

In 2015, the festival is being run by Bostrom Management and the Festival Board of Directors. Bob Massaro is the Executive Director and the Festival Board President is Dan O'Brien.

For its first six years, the festival was headed by founder Gary Brown. Poet and musician Mick Vernon succeeded Gary Brown and took over as Artistic Director. Gerry Montgomery served as Festival Board President. Starting in 2009, Frank Pinney was Festival Board President. In 2010, Dee Dee Garcia White was named Festival Board President. In 2014, Craig Collard was named Festival Board President.

The festival organizers state, "We are a group of volunteers who love cowboy poetry, western music, cowboy movies and western art and gear. Each of us has a day job to support our hobbies and interests. We formed a non-profit corporation 501(c)(3) in order to bring the best western entertainment and art to Monterey County and especially the historical City of Monterey. We aim to produce the best cowboy event of its kind for your enjoyment."

Below are the posters and invited participants from each year.  The original posters are available from the Monterey Cowboy Poetry & Music Festival web site.

The Monterey Cowboy Poetry & Music Festival welcomes public support (contributions are tax-deductible). Visit the Monterey Cowboy Poetry & Music Festival web site.
