About J. C. Baldwin

Daddy's Farm

Sometimes while riding these fields I wonder...
Behind me the sound of turbulent thunder...
Can I make it all work or will this farm go under?
Will I ever make my Daddy proud?

And sometimes I think, to give this dream chase...
To throw it all out, this denim and lace...
To ride off on this horse, with his tight muscled grace...
And my heart thumping wildly and loud.

But I sit here and work and my body, it aches...
And I feel like this farm doesn't give, it just takes...
Then I look o'er those hills at the sunset God makes...
And I whisper my thanks as I cry.

It is through this release that I know Daddy's here...
He died years ago but he's forever near...
He left me the farm and it's finally clear...
I think that I finally know why....
